Did you know that there are 1.4 million active-duty military members?
With all of these people in the military, it’s important to make sure there is consistency, which is why there are different military uniforms that they need to wear.
There are four main types of US military uniforms, so keep reading to find out which ones you should be wearing for certain occasions.
1. Service Uniform
Service uniforms are the uniforms that military members wear every day. You can buy these at a military uniform store, and they’re normally different colors depending on which branch you’re in.
If you’re in the army, it is green, but if you’re in the navy, it’ll be blue. The military also updates these every now and then, so make sure you get the latest uniform.
These uniforms are similar to a business dress. They’re meant to be worn in an office environment or when service members interact with non-civilians.
They can also wear these with military patches, awards, decorations, or other insignia right above their right breast pocket. Military patches are normally worn on their shoulder.
2. Combat Uniform
Combat uniform is also casual, and it’s meant to be worn either for work every day or for combat duty.
This uniform is normally a camouflage pattern, and depending on the branch, it could be a different color.
Normally, it comes with a t-shirt, boots, a cover, jackets, and pants. These are the most comfortable type of working uniforms that the military offers.
3. Fitness Uniform
Fitness is an important part of the military, and it’s often referred to as PT.
And, yes, you need uniforms for PT as well. They’re very simple though, and normally it’s just shorts, a jacket, a T-shirt, or sweatpants. If it’s cold, there might be a windbreaker as well.
You can also add accessories to this, like a reflector belt if you’re going to be doing PT in the dark.
4. Dress Uniform
Military dress uniforms are more formal, and they’re usually elaborate as well.
These uniforms will have a jumper, formal jacket, a cover, dress shoes, and either slacks or a skirt for girls.
Dress uniforms are sometimes also called mess uniforms. They can be green, white, black, or blue. However, in some branches, there are even different types of mess dress depending on how formal the event is.
There are also normally other things on the dress, like awards, medals, or decorations that the service member earned throughout their years of service.
