This is because there are likely to be cleaning costs associated with the multiple-use device, along with any maintenance or repair costs needed to ensure that the devices continue to perform at 100% efficiency. Multiple-use products that are required by the healthcare industry need to be manufactured to extremely high-quality standards in order for them to function effectively for extended periods of use. This can mean that the unit costs per multiple-use item are significantly higher than several of their single-use counterparts.
