Jeep Compass Overview: It’s been a long wait, but Jeep has finally removed the wrappings of the Compass Trailhawk from India. The nickname of ‘Trailhawk’ considers it to be the most hardcore and focused off-road version of an SUV already capable. The Indian specification car also has other firsts to its name. The long-awaited Jeep Compass was launched on July 14, 2018 at a base price of Rs 14.95 lakh. Surely he has sent shockwaves through multiple segments of SUVs, as it overlaps with a lot of products, including the Tata Hexa and the Mahindra XUV500, while undercutting his direct rivals.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk engine and gearbox: The Trailhawk launches the much sought after combination of automatic diesel propulsion in the Compass in our market. The gearbox in question is a 9-speed torque converter unit. Also debuting on the Trailhawk is a BS6 compatible version of the 2.0-liter diesel engine. The engine emits the same 173 HP and 350 Nm of torque as its counterpart BS4. The good news is that the new engine-gearbox combination will also make its way to the normal Compass in the coming months.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk specific off-road modifications: Although the new diesel-auto combo will be the biggest attraction for most buyers, the true essence of the Trailhawk lies in its all-terrain capabilities. To make it more powerful in the handling of difficult terrain, Jeep has endowed the SUV with its’ Active Drive Low 4×4 system ‘, which includes a low-range four-wheel drive system, hill descent control and a mode’ Additional Rock ‘Select-Terrain System (which already comes with the’ Auto ‘,’ Snow ‘,’ Sand ‘and’ Mud ‘modes as standard). There are a lot of other changes too. The distance to the ground has increased by 27 mm (to 205 mm), the water depth is now 483 mm (above 330 mm from the standard version) and the suspension configuration is reworked. The remodeled bumpers result in better focus (26.5 degrees), ramp break (21.2 degrees) and exit angles (31.6 degrees).
Jeep Compass Trailhawk Exterior: Although similar to the regular Compass in basic design, the Trailhawk receives some appendages that make it stand out. The bonnet gets a black decal, there are badges “classified as Trail” on the front fenders, the new double tone wheels have Falken tires for all terrain, and there is a red tow hook on the back loses similar hooks on the front due to our rules of protection against pedestrian shocks). Retouched bumpers and a bronze barrel finish for the seven-blade grille, the surroundings of the fog light and the window line also help with the renewed look.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk Interior: If you are not familiar with the Compass Black Pack edition, then the Trailhawk black cabin color scheme may look new. The unique features of this rugged SUV are the engine start and stop function, the cruise control, the 7.0-inch multi-information display and all-weather mats. Also part of the package is an 8.4-inch touch screen information and entertainment system with Apple and Android connectivity, automatic and keyless climate control, with the option of a panoramic sunroof as an additional payment. Unfortunately, to keep costs under control, the Trailhawk loses some of the characteristics of the Limited Plus variant, such as the motorized driver’s seat and automatic headlights and wipers. Six air bags, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill start assistance, electronic parking brake and reversing parking sensors and camera are part of the safety kit.
