Glue is nothing but a sticky substance used to join two objects. The first time one would hear about glue and start using it would be during childhoods. We initially learn to stick a piece of paper using glue sticks.
Glue is commonly made from plant or animal parts. It can also be made from oil-based chemicals. We all know that the first glues may have been natural liquids that come out of trees when they are cut. Animal material is then cooked in boiling water (both open and closed pressurized containers), until the moment when collagen protein is released from the structure of the meat, then it breaks down to it’s and glues forms. Now let us discuss different types of glue and its uses in different fields.
Types of stick glues and its uses:
As discussed earlier there are different types of glue. Let us discuss four important glues used by us in day to day life and their uses in various fields.
⦁ White Craft Glue:
This is the most common glue which is used by Childers to stick lightweight materials such as paper, cardboard, cloth, and kids’ crafts. White craft glue cannot be used in applications that require water resistance. Because white craft glue must dry before strength is significant to hold it in place until the glue is completely set and dry.
⦁ Wood glue stick:
Wood glue is used to tightly bond pieces of woods together. Many substances have been used as glues. Plain Old Wood Glue is best for raw wood-to-wood joinery. Wood glue is also sometimes called carpenter’s glue, where they used to bond woods. Wood glue is formulated to penetrate wood fibers. It makes glue joints that are stronger than the wood itself. Wood glues are commonly used by carpenters.
⦁ Hot glue stick:
The melting and cooling of polymers provide adhesion for hot melt adhesives. Hot glue is commonly applied using a glue gun and comes in low (250°F) and high (380°F) melting options. Many varieties and performances of hot glue are available depending on the polymer type. Hot glue not most commonly used in high strength applications. It’s a great all-purpose craft glue for quick set up and execution, but it’s not for use by children.
⦁ Silicone glue stick:
Silicone glue is also a type of adhesive (dissolving natural rubber with solvents) that contains a combination of silicon and oxygen atoms. This makes silicon glue a good water-resistant solution. Silicone Sealant is an excellent glue. Silicone glue known to be flexible and durable, it has strong binding properties that can be applied to almost any surface. Silicon glue is used in plastic, metal, and glass. Silicone glue is mostly used in sealing glass on the aquarium.
Glue sticks are great for kids. In the above-mentioned types of glue, the most commonly used glue which is safe for children to use is the white craft glue. Using glue sticks increases Design Flexibility, durability, Product Performance, and Product Quality.
